Getting to Koh Mak

Guests of Good Time Resort, will be picked up -free of charge- from any pier or any location of the island upon arrival on Koh Mak.

The resort is situated just between the beaches Ao Suan Yai and Ao Kao Beach. Both beaches are about 250-300 meters away. The Makathanee Resort is 3-5 minutes walking distance and the Koh Mak resort about 7 minutes walking distance apart. Please let us know, what pier and at what time you will arrive Koh Mak or please give us a call, if you are already on Koh Mak: 039-501 000 or 08 50587802. We will pick you up.

How to get to Koh Mak from the mainland

Laem Ngop Pier in Trat is where the boats leave from the mainland to Koh Mak. There are several piers in Trat and the most well known is the one that takes you to Koh Chang. If you are taking a taxi or have rented a private van, make sure the driver understands that you need to go to Laem Ngop Pier and not the pier that will take you to Koh Chang.

There are several ways of getting to Laem Ngop Pier. I will assume you are coming from Bangkok. Ways of transport are by bus, taxi, private van, limo, airplane or driving yourself.

If you drive yourself

If you are coming from the airport take the exit to highway number 344 (Chonburi-Baan Bung-Klaeng). In Klaeng take the highway to Chanthaburi and Trat. About 25 Km’s before reaching Trat city you will pass a police and army checkpoint. Turn right at the first traffic lights next to the gasoline station. From there follow the signs to Koh Chang until you reach Ngop pier. There is a secure parking lot at 50 Bath per night.

Airconditioned bus

The bus from Ekkamai Station goes directly to Ngop Pier.

• Departure time from Bankok: 6:30, 07:45 and 09:45

From Morchit the bus goes to Trat city so you will need to take a local taxi to the pier.

• Fare: 248 Bath
• Travel Time: +/- 5 hours
• Departure time from Bankok: 07:30, 11:00, 22:00

From Suvarnabhumi airport bus terminal.

• Fare: 270 Bath
• Departures directly to Laem Ngop: 08:15 and 10:15.

Departures to Trat city: 6:40, 10:10, 11:40, 13:10, 16:10, 18:10 (in Trat take taxi to pier)

Private van or Taxi

A private van or taxi can take you anywhere you want in Thailand. Getting a private van or taxi is easy, just ask your hotel or ask information at the airport.
The prices below are to give you an idea but are by no means exact. It depends on the driver and the company.

• 3,800 Bath for a regular taxi (3 persons)
• 4,500 Bath for a 5 person minibus
• 4,800 Bath for a 5 person VIP minibus.
• 5,000 Bath for a 9 person minibus

Shared minibus

A shared minibus is fast and cheap. Most minibuses drive with 9 people and leave from Kao Sarn road or Victory Monument. Rates are usually 300 Bath. A return ticket can be booked on the pier at the same rate.

Limousine

You can travel by limousine to the pier by using the Suvarnabhumi Limo service for 10,000Bath.

Once you get to Laem Ngop Pier you still need to take a boat to Koh Mak. You have the choice of the following boats.

Wooden Boat

On the wooden boat there is room for 80 people and it takes about 3 hours to get to Koh Mak. This boat takes you to Ao Nid pier on Koh Mak. The boat leaves Laem Ngop only on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 11:00 am and ticket costs 300 Bath per person.

Speedboat

The Panan Speedboat leaves Leam Ngop pier at 12:30 and 16:00 and takes about 45 minutes to Koh Mak. During low season other schedules apply. The fare costs 450 Bath and takes you to Ao Soun Yai pier (Koh Mak Resort).

The Lelawadee Speedboat takes about 50 minutes to get to Koh Mak. During high season the boat leaves daily from Laem Ngop at 10:30 and 14:00. The current rate is 450 Bath and takes you to Makathanee Resort (Ao Kao Beach). During low season other schedules apply.

Important: The last speedboat leaves at 16.00. When you miss this one, you have to sleep over in Trat or Koh Chang. Depending on the weather-condition, the speed-boats sometimes cannot operate. This happens 10-15 days a year. Bring raincoats and cover for your bags in the rainy-season.

From Koh Chang

The Bang Bao Wooden Boat leaves Bang Bao every day at 9.00 and arrives Koh Mak at 10.45 (300 Baht).
The Bang Bao Speedboat leaves every day at 12.00 and arrives Koh Mak at 12.45 (550 Baht).

From Koh Kood

Bang Bao Speedboat: 9.00 – 10.00 (400 Baht)
Siriwhite Speedboat: 10.00-10.40 (350 Baht)
Kae Bae Speeboat: 9.00 – 9.45 and 11.00 to 11.45 (600 Baht)
